The word "Chimaeri-mas" was developed by grouping a couple of relevant words to describe this breed’s gender and animal family.
"Chimaeri-“ derives from "Chimaeridae”, taxonomic family name for ghost sharks.

“-Mas" derives from "Mas-culine or Male".


While the term Chimaerimas describes male ghost sharks, “ Chimaerifem” describes female ghost shark.
